Channel Four have just announced that the final season of reality TV show Big Brother will have a circus theme. One of the showâs executive editors, David Williams, commented âthere are circus things and itâs all slightly Alice in Wonderland.â
As die-hard Big Brother fans prepare themselves for the showâs final run, due to start on Wednesday 9th June, we take a timely look at ideas for circus themed fancy dress parties.
When planning the decorations for your fancy dress party go for bright garish colours that reflect the theme. Clown or elephant adorned banners are particularly effective in bringing the spirit of the big top to your own living room or garden. Multicoloured helium balloons can provide simple and cheap entertainment for kids.
To add further to the circus atmosphere, put a CD of carnival tunes on the stereo. These can be easily purchased online, and include a variety of marches and waltzes, including Fucikâs Entrance of the Gladiators.
A circus themed fancy dress party ensures lots of variety in costumes and provides kids with plenty of opportunity to use their creativity when choosing a fancy dress costume. Popular ideas include clowns, trapeze artists, jugglers, mimes, bearded ladies, ringmasters, lion tamers and strongmen. If you can rope a friend into joining in with you, you could even go as a two-piece comedy circus animal, such as a donkey or elephant.
A circus themed party can be a lot of fun for young kids, and is certain to provide a memorable birthday party. Use your creativity and come up with lots of circus games, such as pin the nose on the clown or a three-legged circus parade.
