Welcome Greendale, home of Postman Pat, Jess the Cat, Mrs. Goggins, PC Selby and Ajay Baines. Postman Pat is an animated TV series aimed at pre-school children and first aired in 1981. Sponsored by the Royal Mail, Postman Pat travelled around Greendale in his red van with his trusty companion Jess - his black and white cat, delivering people's post and getting into self-made difficulties. Since 2006, Postman Pat has worked for a Special Delivery Service and has a whole fleet of vehicles at hand including a helicopter, motorbike and a mini-van to help him deliver anything and everything - from parcels to cows. Bespectacled Pat lives in Ford Cottage with his wife Sara and son Julian. Postman Pat as a franchise now includes a multitude of books, activity packs, DVDs, toys and learning materials. A Postman Pat movie is due for release in Autumn 2011 in 3-D, and is the happy Postman is currently the star of an advertising campaign for Specsavers. What a busy man!
