Pokémon began life as a computer game concept in Japan in 1996 by Nintendo. It is now the second best selling gaming merchandise in the world - only outsold by the Mario Franchise. The anime Pokémon is shown on Jetix and CITV and has endless merchandise including figures, trading cards, pokedex, books, posters, and video games.
