Children In Need 2012 – Friday 16th November

The stars of TV, music and radio are all preparing to perform amazing, hilarious and very worthwhile deeds in the name of charity. Children In Need started as a 5-minute radio appeal on Christmas Day in 1927. It was first televised in 1955 with Sooty and Sweep. It moved from it’s Christmas Day slot in 1979 and the national fundraiser (originally a telethon) now raises millions of pounds every year for charities based solely in the United Kingdom.

This Year’s Children In Need fundraiser will be hosted once again by the programmes mainstay Sir Terry Wogan. Helping Terry to create the usual party atmosphere in the studio will be the uber-glamorous Tess Daly, Radio 1 DJ and yummy mummy-to-be Fearne Cotton and Breakfast Radio newcomer Nick Grimshaw. This year’s TV appeal promises to be bigger than ever. As well as the usual fancy dress adorned audience and fundraisers, we are promised an extravaganza of comedy sketches, musical performances, special features and plenty of fun and frolics. There will be a spectacular array of celebrities appearing to help boost donations. Confirmed so far include Little Mix, One Direction, Il Divo, Lord Sugar, Louis Smith, Tom Daley, Princess Zara Phillips, Rebecca Adlington, Bill Turnbull, Matt Smith, Kylie Minogue, the casts of Call the Midwife and Eastenders and many many more. Girls Aloud will reunite on stage for the first time to perform this year’s charity single ‘Something New’.

Members the public spend so much time and energy raising money for this cause – things such as tea-parties, skydives, sitting in baths of jelly, school mufti days, fancy dress parties, bring and buy sales, the list is endless. What better reason to have a shed-load of fun than to raise money for underprivileged children here in the UK. So join in and help Pudsey share some love and laughter. What are you planning to do? Why not send us your pictures of your fabulous Children In Need day costumes?
