This period was called “The Roaring Twenties” which, in the USA, was the time of organized crime, gangsters, molls, jazz and Art Deco. Al Capone controlled the neighbourhood with his Tommy gun carrying gangs driving past restaurants and gunning dead his rivals at their dinner tables.

Every opportunity was taken to have a party whether it was to celebrate a birthday or robbing a bank. Lively music supported the dance craze of the Charleston, Tango, Waltz or Foxtrot. Italian food was a favourite at these occasions.

The ladies wore glamorous eveningwear like the Flapper dress with a feathered boa, a black Bob adorned her head and a dazzling necklace and diamond rings. Ladies cigarette holders were 8 inches long.

As for the gentlemen, they wore black and white tuxedos or perhaps a bold pin stripe suit with a white tie and a black hat and steel tipped pointed shoes. You offer your lady friend a cigarette from a solid silver holder that she removes with two of her lace-covered fingers as the jazz band trio play her favourite tune.
